Last December I got a call from a college-age client - breathless with excitement. 

“The interview,” he said, “went REALLY well!”

“Great!, I responded, “I had forgotten you had one scheduled today.” 

“Well, he admitted sheepishly, “I actually forgot, too - until I got a calendar reminder an hour before…” 

He quickly added, trying to head off any chastising:

 “... but it was ok because I knew how to run all the interview prep plays we worked on, including the AI-powered interview simulation … “

“Uh-huh…” 

“No, listen, it went REALLY well - it felt like a conversation, we related well, and I feel really good about it!” 

“Terrific!” I responded, before asking: "Who was the interview with - was it their internship coordinator?” 

“No,” he said.

It was with the Chief Economist of a national Real Estate company.” 

Later that day, I told a friend. Her response? 

“That’s just BONKERS!!!”

Six months later, he started that internship—reporting directly to that same Chief Economist.
