Our Clients: Patterns of AI Adoption (So Far)

For more than a year, we’ve been working to understand the various patterns of AI usage among our clients. Among college students, recent graduates, and professionals at different stages of their careers, AI adoption is real — but maturity varies widely. Many clients are using AI in tactical ways for writing, research, idea generation, and organization. A smaller group is beginning to use it in more integrated, high-leverage ways.

  • Adoption is broad, but uneven

  • Writing is the dominant entry point

  • Search and research are major use cases

  • Curiosity often exceeds capability

Building AI Fluency

Along a hypothetical AI fluency continuum with four stages — Curious, Tactical, Applied, and Strategic — most IQ Catalyst clients today appear to fall somewhere between Curious and Tactical. Based on results from an anonymous survey, many are aware of Generative AI, interested in its potential, and beginning to use it for tasks like drafting, editing, summarizing, search, and basic support. Our goal is to help clients build greater fluency over time so they can move beyond experimentation and use AI with increasing intention, judgment, and sophistication in support of their careers.

Navigating Tough Career Challenges with AI

As clients build greater fluency, the opportunity becomes much more powerful than basic productivity. IQ Catalyst was founded in part on a simple belief: that AI could help address some of the hardest problems job seekers face. We’re especially interested in its evolving potential to improve job-fit prediction, support future-oriented career thinking, and help clients make smarter decisions.
